Late 19th Century Antique Carved English Cameo Art Glass Vase Rare & Unusual Kiwi Color - For the Collector!
We are pleased to offer this lovely cabinet size carved English cameo vase in one of the most difficult background colors to obtain. Seldom seen, this small vase packs a lot of punch for its size. Carved with a flowering tree with branches, stems and leaves. The carving is very detailed and as you can see from the photos, takes up a lot of the surface areas around the vase. The color is quite unusual if not rare as we have not been able to locate another example in any of the books and literature that we have on English cameo glass. We named the color ‘kiwi’ because it was the first thing that came to our minds when we found it. The vase is unsigned but probably Thomas Webb or Stevens and Williams.
Literature: For comparison of color and shapes, please refer to Ray & Lee Grover, English Cameo Glass, 1980, page 139, C130; page 140, C135.
Measurements: The vase measures approximately 4 1/2 inches tall x 3 inches at it widest.
Condition: Excellent condition. NO Chips, Cracks, Flakes, Repairs or Restorations were noted. The vase appears to have been displayed in a curio cabinet for most of its life. Please examine all the photos and let us know if you need additional photos sent to you. We are always happy to send them upon request.
